"Can we drill your brains?"

That was Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's haughty and sophomoric response to a group of American citizens exhorting her to "Drill Here and Drill Now" at a recent press event!

Just in case you were still wondering whether Pelosi really intends to allow a vote on domestic drilling, look no further than the following report from Politico.com:

"House Democratic leaders and protesters waving McCain signs had a war of words Tuesday at a press event outside an old train station. The demonstrators interrupted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with chants of 'Drill here! Drill now!'

"Pelosi paused and asked the group, 'Right here?' Seeming to enjoy the back and forth, she followed with another question: 'Can we drill your brains?'

"... Arguing that increased offshore drilling would only reduce gas prices two cents in 10 years, she referred to the demonstrators as the 'two-cents-in-ten-years-crowd.'

”Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer swiped at the demonstrators, too, saying that 'sophomoric chanting' won’t solve the energy crisis and that 'all thinking Americans know' -- stressing the word 'thinking' and looking at the crowd -- that America doesn’t have a quarter of the word’s fossil fuels yet uses a quarter of the world’s energy.”

But what "thinking Americans" really know is that the facts firmly contradict Pelosi's ludicrous statements. Events of the past several weeks prove the sheer bullheaded idiocy behind her contentions.

Indeed, when President Bush challenged Congress to lift the congressional moratorium on domestic drilling, oil prices immediately went into free fall and prices at the pump followed suit.

In fact, oil prices have fallen more than 25 percent -- from over $145 per barrel to under $110 per barrel after Labor Day -- based in part on mere TALK about increasing domestic drilling.

And the price of gasoline at the pump has gone down significantly too. If Pelosi was actually interested in the truth, she would have referred to her "hecklers" as the "twenty-five-dollars-per-barrel- in-two-month-crowd."

Make no mistake, Pelosi and her liberal cohorts in Congress are feeling the heat!

Now it's time to really force the issue!
